Audi has always regarded the festival as part of the city. Since they were founded in 1990, the Sommerkonzerte have evolved to be probably the biggest and most important festival of classics in the city of Ingolstadt and the region. Even in 2020, Audi provided a digital stage for high culture.
Since 2019 the Audi Sommerkonzerte have cooperated with the star violinist Lisa Batiashvili. In the role of artistic director, she curates the festival: by means of a leitmotif and concerts held at unusual venues in the city, ranging from living-room concerts to chamber, symphony, movie and open-air concerts, stimulating and thrilling approaches to the classics were opened up to audiences. In addition to this, an exciting accompanying program creates links to the present day. In this way, the festival has already brought more than quarter of a million listeners into the concert halls.

The Audi Sommerkonzerte are guided by the idea of bringing music close to people, giving them new impulses, and delighting them with high-caliber artists. To welcome world stars to Ingolstadt while at the same time giving a stage to ensembles from the region such as the Audi Bläserphilharmonie (Wind Orchestra) and the Georgische Kammerorchester Ingolstadt (Georgian Chamber Orchestra) – this has been the aim of the festival for many years. An equally established part of the concert series are the popular Audi Klassik Open Air concerts in the Klenzepark. The festival also works closely with the Audi Jugendchorakademie, a choir of young vocalists that emerged from the Audi Sommerkonzerte.
