How does the data connection with Cubic work?

The data connection for most Audi connect services is already fully included ex works. A separate data connection is only required to use the With the Wi-Fi hotspot¹ , up to 8 devices can use the Internet in your vehicle! Wi-Fi hotspot¹ for up to eight mobile devices, online media streaming³ , online radio¹ and hybrid radio¹ and other services offered via an Audi smartphone app.

How do I network with my vehicle?

The services are provided in many European countries via a SIM card that is permanently installed in the vehicle. The costs for the data connections are included in the price of the services. Exceptions to this are the data connection for the Wi-Fi hotspot¹ and use of the online media streaming³, online radio¹ and hybrid radio¹ services as well as other services offered via an Audi smartphone app. The data connection for these services is also generated via the SIM card permanently installed in the vehicle, but requires a chargeable data plan from your Audi partner. For tariffs and booking information, visit www.audi.com/myaudi. If an external SIM card is inserted into the card slot, however, then all data connections (for Audi connect services and Wi-Fi) will be established via this SIM card. The resulting costs are borne by the customer. No refunds for the costs will be given by Audi. For some services, such as locking and unlocking² the vehicle using "Audi connect remote & control", you need to register with myAudi and be verified as the main user. This protects your vehicle against unauthorised third-party access. Information on the registration process can be found on the following pages or obtained from your Audi partner. If you would like to use certain synchronisation features in the myAudi App, such as sending destinations to the vehicle, you will need to log in to the vehicle with your myAudi account.

Audi connect-SIM

The Audi connect SIM is a SIM card that is installed directly in the vehicle (embedded SIM) which you will receive as part of your Audi connect equipment, depending on model and country. Depending on the model, the SIM card brings the connect services on board via an LTE/UMTS module with a download speed of up to 100 MBit/s. It includes an in-built amount of data for using most Audi connect services. In addition, the Audi connect SIM automatically accesses the applicable country provider in most European countries, as needed. So, high roaming charges that are dictated by what country you are in and annoying roaming confirmations are a thing of the past for our customers. In addition, customers can also purchase data for their own Wi-Fi hotspot¹ for the mobile devices of their passengers. This also allows online media streaming³ (for example of Apple Music⁴ and Amazon Prime Music³), as well as listening to internet radio stations via online radio¹.

Please note that extra data will need to be booked via Cubic Telecom for the following services: online radio¹, hybrid radio¹, online media streaming³ and other app-based streaming services.

Wi-Fi hotspot¹

This allows you to stream or surf at maximum speed via the external antenna of your vehicle. Audi connect enables wireless Internet access via a Wi-Fi hotspot¹ in the vehicle. This allows up to 8 mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to surf the Internet at the same time. After booking for the first time in the online portal, data packages can also be conveniently rebooked via the vehicle's MMI.
