Fascinating insights

The permanent exhibition is the heart of the Audi museum mobile. From entrance level 0, the lift takes you back to the year 1899 as a ‘time machine’ to level 3, where the tour begins. The two levels of the permanent exhibition, 1899 to 1945 and 1946 to 2000, are each divided into seven sections. Each section provides an overview of the individual epoch. Texts and pictures thematise the relationship between the automobile, technology and society.

Grand Prix Legends

Special exhibition at the Audi museum mobile
A Formula 1-style racing car, minimalistically backlit, stands on a round platform in a bright, futuristic-looking room.

The countdown is on: Audi will enter the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in 2026 with its own works team and a powertrain developed in Germany, making its debut in the pinnacle of motorsport. Although it may seem so at first glance, Audi is no newcomer to the premier class. As early as the 1920s, its historic predecessor brand NSU was successful in Grand Prix racing, and in the 1930s, Auto Union's Silver Arrows even dominated international competition in what was then the premier class of racing.

To mark Audi's entry into Formula 1, the Audi museum mobile is presenting an extraordinary special exhibition featuring Grand Prix racing cars from over 100 years of racing history. These include the winner of the first Grand Prix race ever, the first winner of the German Grand Prix, and of course the almost unbeatable Silver Arrows from Auto Union. The exhibition also highlights the period that followed. With legendary Formula 1 cars from Porsche, Matra, Lamborghini, Jordan, and the Sauber team, it spans the arc to the current concept study of the race car with which Audi will successfully continue its motorsport history from 2026 onwards.
