Permanent exhibition at the Audi museum mobile
The permanent exhibition is the heart of the Audi museum mobile. From the entrance level (Level 0), the elevator—acting as a “time machine”—takes you back to the year 1899 on Level 3, where the tour begins. The two levels of the permanent exhibition, covering the periods 1899 to 1945 and 1946 to 2000, are each divided into seven sections. Each section provides an overview of the respective era. Texts and images explore the relationship between the automobile, technology, and society.

The permanent exhibition at the Audi museum mobile traces the history of the Four Rings through more than 100 automobiles and motorcycles. The exhibits are among the museum’s highlights and bring the evolution of Audi, Auto Union, and mobility to life.
Visitors discover key milestones in the company’s history, including the merger to form Auto Union in 1932, historic vehicles, two-wheelers, and icons from Audi’s motorsport history. A particular eye-catcher is the paternoster, which continuously moves through all levels of the building, showcasing selected motorsport exhibits.
In addition, the Technology Gallery uses interactive, hands-on exhibits to illustrate key developments in automotive engineering. In this way, the permanent exhibition combines historic vehicles, multimedia presentations, and technology to create a brand experience at the Audi Forum Ingolstadt.
Current Special Exhibition: Design Legends
“Design Legends” is the current special exhibition at the Audi museum mobile, showcasing design concepts, concept cars, and sketches from Audi’s brand history.
Clean lines, progressive styling, and a distinctive aesthetic: this is Audi Design, to which the Audi museum mobile is now dedicating its new special exhibition. “Design Legends” showcases a selection of extraordinary concept cars that illustrate the evolution of Audi’s design language—from the early visions of the 1980s to the present day.
Special exhibits from the model-making department offer rare insights into the creative process and the work of the designers, starting with initial ideas, sketches, and renderings and extending to lifelike clay models.
Experience how visions take shape and give the brand with the four rings its unmistakable identity.
