EDI transactions with external partners are based on message standards (e.g. delivery schedules complying with VDA 4905 or EDIFACT DELFLOR) and communication standards (e.g. ODETTE File Transfer Protocol). In the past, local EDI standards (such as VDA messages) were predominantly used. We will be replacing these in the medium term throughout the Group with the global standard EDIFACT. EDI is indispensable for lean and efficient business processes for the supply of production materials and spares. EDI is therefore an absolutely essential requirement for cooperation with partners in the JIT process and for large transaction volumes. The benefit of EDI is generated in the process with the integration of EDI messages into the in-house systems of the partner companies, with the messages building on one another in terms of data. We therefore expect integrated EDI support from our EDI partners for the entire logistics process, from delivery preview through to financial settlement. The Internet-based application WebEDI is available free of charge for suppliers with a low volume of data in the supply process, without the integration of EDI messages. You can get access to this application via the suppliers' platform VWGroupsupply.com.
